FOR PATIENTS WITH DIABETES
AI-BASED INSULIN THERAPY
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The project involves the development and creation of an innovative insulin therapy management system for people with diabetes mellitus who are on insulin pump therapy. The development is based on a new method for predicting blood glucose levels and assessing individual insulin dosage needs in people with diabetes. This method involves the use of artificial intelligence technologies
Modern insulin pumps can already analyze several important indicators: blood glucose levels, their dynamics, insulin sensitivity coefficient, carbohydrate coefficient, and the amount of carbohydrates consumed. Thanks to this, they can accurately calculate the required insulin dose, predict deviations in glucose levels from the norm and independently adjust therapy. However, even with strict adherence to a diet and a properly selected insulin administration scheme, it can be difficult to stabilize blood glucose levels
The effect
of protein products
on insulin resistance
The idea of our project is based on the understanding that the consumption of protein products can significantly affect the insulin resistance of the body
Protein is an essential nutrient, but too much of it can negatively affect glucose metabolism, leading to impaired blood glucose regulation
The role of protein in metabolism
Increased insulin resistance
Protein foods, especially when consumed in excess, can contribute to the development of insulin resistance, which means the body requires more insulin to metabolize glucose
Increased insulin resistance reduces the effectiveness of insulin, which can lead to fluctuations in blood glucose levels, both hypo- and hyperglycemic episodes
Impact on insulin efficiency
Artificial intelligence can analyze huge amounts of data with high accuracy, allowing for more accurate glucose prediction and more efficient insulin planning
Increased accuracy
The system can dynamically adjust insulin pump parameters in real time, allowing for prompt response to changes in blood glucose levels and preventing complications
Timely adaptation
The system automates many tasks, such as data analysis, insulin dosage calculation and insulin pump parameter adjustments, freeing up the time of the doctor and the patient
Automation of the process
USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
It is almost impossible for a person to independently take into account the protein composition of food products and its impact on the body. But this task can easily be handled by artificial intelligence, capable of processing large volumes of data
A NEW APPROACH
TO THE MANAGEMENT
OF INSULIN THERAPY
Using advanced machine learning technologies, the system predicts blood glucose levels by taking into account all available data, such as glucose history, meal timing, physical activity and individual patient characteristics
The system analyzes information about consumed products, including composition (proteins, fats, carbohydrates), quantity and time of food intake. This allows you to take into account the impact of various products on insulin resistance
Glucose level prediction
Nutrition data analysis
The system continuously monitors glucose levels and food intake, predicts insulin resistance and dynamically adjusts insulin pump parameters to ensure optimal glucose control
Based on the glucose level forecast, the system automatically calculates the optimal insulin dose required to maintain a stable blood glucose level
Dynamic correction
Calculating insulin dosage
Thanks to the use of advanced machine learning algorithms and the processing of large amounts of data, it will be possible to take into account the variety of foods, make an individual schedule for the administration of insulin and analyze the results of treatment. In addition, they can dynamically adjust the parameters of the insulin pump
ADVANTAGES
OF THE NEW SYSTEM
Individual approach
The system takes into account the individual characteristics of the patient's body, such as insulin sensitivity, carbohydrate ratio and the effect of amino acids on insulin resistance, which allows for the selection of the optimal treatment regimen
01
Improved glucose control
With accurate glucose level predictions and automatic insulin dosage adjustments, the system helps stabilize blood glucose levels, reducing the number of episodes of hypo- and hyperglycemia
02
Automatic calculation of insulin dosage
The system automates insulin therapy management, which frees the patient from the need to manually calculate dosages and constantly monitor glucose levels
03
The goal of the project is to create an innovative product that will significantly surpass existing global analogues in its characteristics and will allow for more effective insulin therapy for patients with diabetes
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE GIVES A CHANCE TO CURE DIABETES
Medical research shows that interval fasting can prevent the development of diabetes mellitus or even reverse its course. However, for patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus, compliance with all the conditions of interval fasting remains an extremely difficult task, often practically impossible. As a result, this method does not bring the expected result. Even modern insulin pumps do not help in this
Nevertheless, an insulin pump equipped with artificial intelligence technologies is becoming a significant breakthrough compared to traditional devices. The predictive model of insulin resistance integrated into the system provides the ability to dynamically adjust pump parameters in real time. Such a system allows patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus to follow an interval fasting regime that was previously unavailable to them.

Thus, an artificial intelligence-based insulin pump creates real prospects for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus, offering patients a new path to recovery

Conclusion
The introduction of an artificial intelligence-based insulin pump opens up new horizons for people with type 1 diabetes. The ability to adhere to strict dietary regimes, including interval fasting, will create prerequisites for improving disease control and, possibly, achieving remission
The aim of the project is to create an insulin pump that evaluates the need for insulin for a specific meal based on its photo and video image taken with a smartphone. Artificial intelligence analyzes the composition of products, takes into account previous nutrition, predicts the dynamics of glucose levels and decides on the necessary schedule of insulin injections
The project has great potential for further development, which will allow the creation of even more advanced insulin therapy management systems that meet the needs of patients with diabetes
The proposed insulin therapy management system is an innovative product that has significant advantages over existing global analogues
